TRAINING FACILITY
A permanent home for classroom, drill, and fitness — serving the cadets of Cuyahoga County
HELP US BUILD THE YOUNGMILITARY TRAINING CENTER
Young Military launched in 2026, and our first Garfield Heights cohort is forming now. Our long-term goal is a permanent home — a single building with a classroom, a drill floor, and a gym — so our program never has to depend on borrowed space.
THE VISION
Why a dedicated facility is the right next step for YoungMilitary.org
Without a home of our own, a new program like ours has to rely on borrowed floors and open fields, moving when the weather does and when other groups need the room. That can work for a first cohort. It will not work for the program we plan to become.
A dedicated facility in Garfield Heights — or anywhere in Cuyahoga County — would let us train year-round, store uniforms and equipment safely on site, host regional competitions, and welcome families who want to see where their kids spend their Saturdays. One address. One schedule. One home.
We are not talking about a monument. We are talking about a working building: a classroom, a drill floor, a gym, a restroom, and a place to lock up the gear. Nothing fancy. Everything functional. Built around the cadets.
THREE SPACES UNDER ONE ROOF
What a purpose-built YoungMilitary training center looks like in practice
CLASSROOM
A quiet, focused room for character education, leadership curriculum, and homework help. Cadets need a place to sit down, open a book, and be taught — without depending on a borrowed room that another group may need.
What Happens Here
- Character and leadership curriculum
- Homework help and tutoring
- College and career exploration
- Guest speakers and civic education
DRILL FLOOR
An open indoor floor with the square footage to run regulation drill movements, ceremony rehearsals, and full parade-ready formations. Year-round, regardless of weather, and without sharing the space with a rec league.
What Happens Here
- Regulation drill and formation work
- Ceremony and color-guard rehearsals
- Parade and public-event preparation
- Competition practice and team evaluations
FITNESS / GYM
An age-appropriate physical-training space for cadets ages 10-14. Not a commercial gym — a safe, supervised area for conditioning, team sports, and obstacle-course elements that build fitness and grit.
What Happens Here
- Age-appropriate strength and conditioning
- Team sports and group PT
- Obstacle-course and agility elements
- Fitness testing and goal tracking
WHY IT MATTERS
The difference between borrowing space and owning our schedule
THE PROBLEM WE ARE SOLVING
Without a facility, a youth program is limited to borrowed spaces, unpredictable schedules, and weather-dependent outdoor drill. A gym cancels — a Saturday is lost. A school schedules an event — practice moves. Rain moves in — everyone packs up and heads home.
That kind of instability costs programs their cadets. Parents want consistency. Kids build discipline through routine, not through last-minute venue changes. We want our mentors' hours spent teaching, not driving between borrowed rooms.
A single permanent home fixes all of that at once. It is the single highest-leverage investment anyone can make in this organization.
WHAT A FACILITY UNLOCKS
- Year-round operation regardless of weather
- Safe, dedicated space designed around minors
- Background-checked adults present at all times
- On-site storage for uniforms, drill rifles, and equipment
- Capacity to host regional drill and ceremony competitions
- Room to grow as new cohorts form
- A stable address families can count on
- Reduced dependence on borrowed and rented venues
SECURE A HOME
Three ways to help us put YoungMilitary under a permanent roof
We are actively seeking a long-term lease, a donated building, or the purchase of a suitable space in Garfield Heights or elsewhere in Cuyahoga County. We are flexible on the path — what matters is that the cadets have a home. If you can help with any of the three routes below, we want to hear from you.
Donate Toward a Permanent Home
Any amount moves us closer to a permanent home. Tell us your gift is for the facility and we will put it toward that goal.

A building does not change a kid's life. What happens inside it does. Help us build the walls so our mentors can build the leaders. Every contribution — dollar, hour, or square foot — gets us closer.
